First day filming

Today was our first day of filming on location in Central London. We had planned to do the interviews to the public in a number of central locations around the city.

These were: Covent Garden, Camden Market, Trafalgar Square.

As we had reached our first stop at Covent Garden we had realised that the boom microphone lead was faulty and wasn’t picking up any sound at all. This was a disappointment however we went ahead with the filming as the microphone on the camera was very clear and worked better than I thought, the only other problem we had when interviewing and filming was the microphone was very sensitive to picking up the wind. This is something we will have to deal with when in the editing suite and use soundtrack pro to overcome this problem and hopefully the sound can be improved.

As I was the presenter for the day I had the chance to ask members of the public a series of questions which included: What would you do if you were invisible for the day? What was the worst lie you’ve ever told? Best chat up line? Worst excuse you’ve ever told to get out of a situation or work?
The response from the public to initially be on camera and answer the questions wasn’t the response we were looking for. A lot of them didn’t want to be filmed or their reaction to the question wasn’t as humorous as we had hoped.
We also set out for the public to take part in the toxic waste challenge. This is where the public can choose to endure this terribly sour sweet and try to keep a straight face. We only had a few willing people who took part and their facial expressions or reaction to the sweet wasn’t what we were looking for but peoples taste buds find things different so this, which we couldn’t of planned.

Overall at the end of the day we had a lot of footage and some really clear answers and stories. Looking back at the footage as I was presenting it, I feel I needed to speak clearer and slower. My feedback from last year’s project included me talking slower and more animated on screen. It is too late for this section however in the green screen presenting I shall take these notes on board.
